The Preservation Unit
This unit is responsible for the preservations of records retrieved from Government and private Institutions. The unit performs traditional repair, wet repair, lamination, encapsulation and de-acidification of records.
The preservation unit manages and ensures that records are properly stored in acid free boxes, dust free rooms, light free and a regulated flow of temperature and relative humidity, also internal and external fumigation of the building to protect against pest infestation.
In 1997 Micrographic Laboratory was established as part of the Preservation Unit in order to make information that was un-accessible due to there fragility accessible by transferring them to micro-fiche and copies are used in place of the original.
